Toddlers meets on Thursday mornings during
term time, from 10.00 to 11.45 and welcomes children from birth until
they start school.
Free play takes place in the main hall, with
options including playdough, Duplo, a home corner, a farm, a railway
and a garage. Books and puzzles are also available, both in
the main hall and the quiet room and there is a different painting
or sticking activity each week in the craft room.
At around
10.45, story time takes place in the foyer – usually three short stories,
including a Bible story. This is followed by drinks and biscuits
for children and carers back in the hall. This is usually the
first point in the morning where everyone is together and the room
resounds with the chatter of 30-40 children and accompanying adults.
After
helping to tidy away the toys everyone eagerly crowds into the foyer
for singing time with Lesley and her ever-popular puppets – a mix of
nursery rhymes, ‘Jesus songs' and, inevitably, ‘Happy Birthday' for
someone. Meanwhile, the rest of the team bring out a fleet of
small cars, bikes and tractors and the morning concludes with a few
minutes of enthusiastic riding around the hall. Toddlers does not have a waiting list, so if you are caring for a baby
or pre-school child we would love to see you on Thursday mornings.
